Community Send-Off Set For Freehold Township Little League Team: See Details
The send-off was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening.
Editor's Note: In an update posted on Friday afternoon, Freehold Township Little League announced that the team send-off has been cancelled after their team's flight to the World Series was canceled.
"While we’re disappointed we won’t get the chance to gather as a community before the team departs, we’re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support everyone has shown these players throughout their amazing postseason run," the league said in their online statement. "Your encouragement has meant the world to them and their families."
"The destination hasn’t changed—our FTLL Juniors are still headed to Taylor, Michigan to represent New Jersey in the Little League Junior League World Series. Their journey just has a few extra curveballs along the way."

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A community send-off for the Freehold Township Little League team has been rescheduled to take place on Friday afternoon.
This celebration comes after the team won the USA East Regional Tournament, securing their spot in the Junior League Baseball World Series, which is set to take place in Taylor, Michigan.
While a Community Pep Rally & Sendoff was originally scheduled for Wednesday, the weather forecast ended up delaying the event.
On Thursday evening, the team announced a new date for the sendoff, which is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Dick's House of Sport in Freehold.
"Let’s pack the field with FTLL families, friends, and our amazing community," the team said in an online post.
"Wear your FTLL gear, bring the energy, make some noise, and help show these players just how proud we are of everything they’ve accomplished."
For those who wish to support the team and their families on this World Series journey, an online fundraiser has been started to help support the costs of travel, lodging, meals and other expenses for players and their families.
The GoFundMe has a goal of $36,000. As of Friday morning, $6,455 has been raised.
"We invite the community to rally behind these dedicated athletes and their families," fund organizer Michael Sweeney wrote.
"Your support will help make their dreams possible and show them that Freehold and New Jersey are cheering them on every step of the way."
The Freehold Township Little League team will open play in the 2026 World Series for the top teams of 13- and 14-year-old players at 4 p.m. on Sunday (Michigan time) against hometown Taylor North, the Michigan District 5 champions and host team of the JLWS.
