New Tool Store Coming To Freehold
Known as "America's #1 tool store," the new location is expected to create 25-30 new jobs in the community, officials said.
FREEHOLD, NJ — A new tool store is set to open in Freehold this spring.
Harbor Freight, known as “America’s #1 tool store,” will be opening a new location in Freehold at 3681 U.S. 9, the company recently announced.
Founded in 1977 by Eric Smidt, Harbor Freight began as a small mail-order tool business in North Hollywood, CA, and has since grown to over 1,600 locations nationwide.

In New Jersey, there are currently 30+ Harbor Freight stores. This will be the company’s fifth location in Monmouth County.
“The new Harbor Freight store is part of the company’s continued effort to make professional-quality tools and unbeatable value more convenient and accessible to customers where they live and work,” officials said.

With the new store opening in Freehold, officials said it will bring “convenient access to professional-quality tools and equipment for DIYers and pros alike” in the Freehold and Monmouth County area.
Though there isn’t an official opening date for the store yet, officials said the new location is expected to open in Spring 2026, and a formal announcement will follow with the date for the official grand opening.
According to company officials, the new Freehold store will create approximately 25-30 new jobs in the community, and will feature the company’s full lineup of tools and equipment only available at Harbor Freight.
