‘One-Stop Shop’ For Macarons & Gifts Opens At Freehold Raceway Mall

FREEHOLD, NJ — A new “one-stop shop” for macarons and gifts has officially opened at Freehold Raceway Mall.

Woops! Macaron & Gifts hosted its grand opening on the first floor of the mall over Mother’s Day Weekend.

Morris Franco, the owner of the new kiosk, told Patch that getting involved with Woops! stemmed from his desire to do something that brought excitement to the local community.

“I used to work in corporate America, and sometime last year, I decided that I wanted to make a pivot,” Franco said. “I wanted to do something that brought excitement to people, something more customer-facing as opposed to being in a big machine.”

Based on 8th Avenue in New York, Woops! has multiple locations throughout the U.S., including some in New Jersey.

With the official opening of their new kiosk, the Freehold Raceway Mall location joins two others in the Garden State at Menlo Park in Edison and the Deptford Mall in Deptford.

“My wife is a Long Branch resident, and we go out to her parents’ house a bunch in the summer,” Franco said. “The Freehold Raceway Mall is somewhere we went when we wanted to treat ourselves.”

“It has all these great stores, and so I reached out to Woops! and thought it would be a good place to move the kiosk over,” he continued. “That’s how it all started.”

At Woops! customers can shop from a variety of macarons, as well as gift boxes for events such as Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc.

For those looking for larger packages, the company also offers corporate catering orders and specialty gifts.

What they’re most known for, however, is their “beautifully crafted French macarons” that are brought to communities across the country.

"We like to think of ourselves as the one-stop gift shop for a niche gift," Franco told Patch.

“The best thing about Woops! is the uniqueness of the flavors,” he continued. “You can get a macaron from other places, but they don’t necessarily cater to where the world is today, whereas we’ve got Nutella-flavored macarons, Blueberry Cheesecake, Strawberry Lemonade, Cookies & Cream, etc.”

“It’s catering to modern palettes based on a super delicate and expensive product,” Franco said. “So I like to think that we kind of cater to everybody in that way.”

While there are plenty of macaron flavors for customers to choose from, Franco recommends his favorite (the Strawberry Lemonade macaron) for anyone who’s not sure where to start.

Since opening at Freehold Raceway Mall, Franco said that he and his team have felt “incredibly welcome,” shouting out the Freehold community and Carrie and Robert Oliver, a local couple who are co-managers of the kiosk.

“We’ve felt incredibly welcome, so much so that I’m even considering opening up another business in the Freehold Raceway Mall,” Franco said. “It’s been wonderful, and we’ve gotten so lucky to find some wonderful local residents to work with and manage the kiosk.”
