Galloway Man Sentenced For Beating Girlfriend With Cane
Rashad Whitfield pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after police said a woman suffered a fractured nose.
GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway Township man was sentenced Friday, June 5, 2026, to three years in New Jersey State Prison in a domestic violence assault case tied to an August 2025 incident at the Liberty Inn.
Rashad Whitfield, 40, of Galloway Township, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Joseph Levin, J.S.C. The sentence is subject to an 85 percent period of parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act. On Feb. 12, 2026, Whitfield pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated assault on a domestic violence victim.
The case stems from an Aug. 8, 2025 police response to the Liberty Inn in Galloway Township. According to authorities, Galloway Township Police Department officers were dispatched there for a domestic violence assault and found the victim bleeding heavily from the nose.

The victim told police that her boyfriend, Whitfield, had strangled her and repeatedly struck her in the face with his cane, according to officials. Whitfield took the victim’s phone before fleeing the scene before police arrived. He was apprehended shortly afterward.
The victim suffered a fractured nose among her injuries, according to officials.
