An 'Accident': Mom Of Driver Who Hit Teens In NJ Speaks Out

The boy was taken to the juvenile detention center after the crash along E Gibbsboro Road in Lindenwold.

LINDENWOLD, NJ — The mother of the 16-year-old driver who hit a group of teenagers on Tuesday called the crash an accident.

Her son has been charged with "joyriding," among other violations, after he drove onto a sidewalk and left six kids injured along E Gibbsboro Road.

In an interview with Telemundo, the woman can be heard crying while speaking in Spanish about the aftermath of the crash.

"God knows how I ask him every day that both the children can get through this, and be well with their parents," she said.

As for the moments immediately after the crash, the woman said her son was in a state of shock and didn't know what to do.

"I didn't know what to do, I didn't know how to react," he told her.

The boy who was behind the wheel is being held at the Camden County Youth Detention Center as the review into the case continues.
