NJ Man Accused Of Scamming Pro Athletes Out Of Millions Found Dead In Pool, Authorities Say

MULLICA HILL, NJ — The body of a 24-year-old man who is accused of scamming pro football players out of millions of dollars was found in a pool on July, the Harrison Township Police Department said.

Mohamed Coulibaly, of Mullica Hill, was found dead that evening after a family member called police to check on his well-being.

Three former players told Barron's in July that they lost more than $1 million together after giving money to what is said to be fake websites.

Around 24 other current and former professional athletes were also included in the pitch that Coulibaly would present to potential partners for ownership into Shopify-powered online outlets that would sell a variety of goods.

After Barron's looked into sales data that appeared to be fabricated, Coulibaly told the outlet that the findings were based on misunderstandings of the technology.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office declined to comment on the case when asked by Patch for additional details.
