6 Candidates Running For Hillsborough School Board For 2026

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Six candidates have filed to run for Hillsborough Township's Board of Education in 2026, with three spots on the governing body at stake.

Monday afternoon marked the deadline for hopefuls to file petitions for candidacy in New Jersey's school board elections, which will be held Nov. 3.

Incumbents Cynthia "Cindy" DeCalalcante Nurse and Paul David Marini are running for re-election to the board.

Cassandra Kragh is not seeking re-election.

The candidate field includes four challengers: Diane Braungard-Galayda, James Soi Mwanza, Daniel Sexton, and Joseph A. Pestrosino.

School board elections are nonpartisan. But candidates can choose a slogan to appear with their name on the ballot.
