4 Were Injured In Lincoln Tunnel Crashes In NJ Wednesday Morning

Two crashes in the Lincoln Tunnel Wednesday morning caused injuries and major commuting delays.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Four people were injured in two crashes in the Lincoln Tunnel on Wednesday morning that caused significant commuting delays.

A Port Authority official said that the first crash, around 6:52 a.m., was among three vehicles in the center tube of the Tunnel.

Port Authority police and bridge and tunnel agents responded to the incident. Two people had non-life-threatening injuries, a spokesperson said. One person refused further treatment. The other was taken to the hospital for further evaluation, a spokesperson said.

The center tube was reopened to traffic at 7:26 a.m.

NJ Transit and the Port Authority still reported hour-long commuting delays throughout the morning.

Then, at approximately 10:09 a.m., two buses and a vehicle crashed in the center tube. Port Authority police and bridge and tunnel agents responded again.

Two non-life-threatening injuries were reported, a spokesperson said, and both people were taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

The lanes were reopened at 11:45 a.m.
