Hoboken presents the Songs of Freedom concert with more than 20 performances

Event Details

340 Sinatra Dr, Hoboken, NJ, 07030

Hoboken is excited to present the Songs of Freedom concert on Thursday, July 16, from 7 to 9 PM at the Sinatra Park amphitheater at 340 Sinatra Drive. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Hoboken Middle School auditorium, 158 4th St.

Music has always been the language of protest. Without songs of freedom, written by poet-activists, social, political, economic, and environmental justice would lack its powerful voice to be heard. The success of great movements can be traced back to the inspirational words and sounds of the writers and music makers of their time.

HobokenRESIST!, the Hoboken Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Hoboken Historical Museum are all proud to sponsor Songs of Freedom and honored to have so many great local musicians and activists lend their strong voices to our fight to stop the abominable injustices being wrought upon our neighbors, relatives, and friends.

Featured performances include Freedy Johnston, Jeremy Beck, Julio Fernandez, The Gefkens, Eddie Skuller, Charlie Nieland, David Calamoneri, Jaime Della Fave, Danny Shot, Ed Fogarty, Mike Tichy, Bill McGarvey, Wendy Joyner, Abbe Rivers, Annalee Van Kleeck, The Jersey City Resistance Choir, Tom Vincent, The ICE Breakers House Band: Ben Butler, Dave Post, Art Desimine, Dave Stengel, & more.

We want Songs of Freedom to make a real difference in people’s lives. Therefore, we’ve partnered with the following organizations whose representatives will be on hand to educate attendees on how they can offer assistance, either through actions or financial support, to those with a family member who has been detained.

SOL (Spirit of Liberation) is a grassroots organization based in Jersey City, NJ, focused on collective liberation, direct action, mutual aid, and political education.

Estamos Unidos is a community movement in New Jersey dedicated to protecting, educating, and providing mutual aid to immigrant families. In the Jersey City area, the mission focuses on organizing support networks, providing information on legal rights, and standing united against fear and family separation.

Cosecha New Jersey is part of a grassroots, non-violent movement working within the community to achieve permanent protection, dignity, and respect for all immigrants.

We cannot thank these artists enough for giving their time and talent to support this important cause.
