Incident Outside Downtown Hoboken Bar Draws Police: Cops

Police responded to a call outside a Hoboken bar on Friday night, they confirmed.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police responded to an incident outside a downtown Hoboken bar on Friday, but made no arrests, a spokesperson said Monday.

A video posted to social media on Saturday claimed that a man had punched a security guard in the vicinity of a bar on First Street on Friday night, and that the guard used jiu jitsu training to defend himself. The video shows a person on a sidewalk calling for help. Then, police arrive.

Hoboken public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin told Patch on Monday that police responded to a "medical call involving a highly intoxicated individual" outside of the restaurant in question.

Police responded around 1:15 a.m., she said. No arrests were made.

The person was taken to a local hospital, she said.
