Person Falls Into Hudson River Trying To Retrieve Cell Phone: Hoboken Police

A person dropped their cell phone into the Hudson River and fell in while trying to get it, Hoboken police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A person who fell into the Hudson River on Wednesday morning was rescued around 1 a.m. Wednesday, Hoboken officials said.

Around 12:45 a.m., Hoboken police responded to Pier C on the central waterfront, said public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin.

A person had fallen in while trying to retrieve their dropped cell phone, she said.

Responders used a water bag to safely help the person out of the water on the 500 block of Sinatra Drive, near Blue Eyes Café.

Hoboken Fire and Hoboken EMS/Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded.

The person refused medical attention, Rubin said.
