Blizzard Closes Howell K-8 Schools, High Schools
Western Monmouth County received the highest snow totals in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.
HOWELL, NJ — The lingering effects of the blizzard that has dropped more than 24 inches of snow on Howell has prompted both the Howell Public Schools and the Freehold Regional High School District to close schools again on Tuesday.
The Howell Township Public Schools said the district will be closed again Tuesday and all programs canceled, and district officials are monitoring conditions and will "give an update regarding Wednesday, February 25th, as necessary."
The Freehold Regional High School District will be closed Tuesday as well.

Howell Township Schools calendar for 2025-26 says any emergency closure days will be made up as early dismissal days beginning June 24.
The Freehold Regional High School District had three emergency closure days built into its calendar before the Jan. 25 snowstorm that closed the district for one day.

"In the event the district needs to make up more than three days due to emergency closings, the calendar will be modified to make up those days on holiday/recess days," the district's calendar says.
The days that would be affected if the district closes beyond Tuesday are as follows: Monday, April 6, 2026, Monday, March 30, 2026, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Freehold has received the most snow in New Jersey as of Monday afternoon, with 26 inches reported as of just before noon, according to the National Weather Service.
