Armed Suspects Carjack BMW Blocks From Jersey City Train Station

Five men are at large in a Jersey City carjacking.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Five people carjacked a BMW in Jersey City's Journal Square neighborhood on Monday night, police said.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., police responded to 36 Journal Square on a report of a car theft involving firearms, said public safety spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

The driver and passenger of a 2018 BMW 330 told police that they had been parked nearby, at 64 Sip Ave., when five men approached and demanded that they leave the car.

The victims said two of the men brandished guns. They got into the car and left.

Within two hours, police found the car in Newark.

No arrests have been made, Wallace-Scalcione said. Police are investigating.
