Bayonne Man Charged In Jersey City Hit-And-Run
A Hudson County man struck a pedestrian in Jersey City last month and left the scene, prosecutors say.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Bayonne man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that injured a Jersey City pedestrian over July 4 weekend.
Santiago Mena-Gutierrez, 27, of Bayonne was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus on Monday and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury, said prosecutors.
Prosecutors said that on July 5, around 2:20 a.m., Jersey City police were notified of a pedestrian struck near Ocean and Winfield avenues.

Police found a 31-year-old man with serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital.
A Kia Soul was identified as the car that struck the victim, and Mena-Gutierrez was identified as the driver.

Besides the leaving the scene, he was charged with endangering an injured victim and obstruction. He has been released to await his first court appearance, prosecutors said.
