Group Of Men Knocked On Doors Carrying Knife Or Machete: Jersey City Police

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City residents should be on the lookout for five men in a pickup truck who were knocking on doors earlier this month — and displaying a large knife, possibly a machete or saw, police said.

Police issued a "Be On The Lookout" alert on Wednesday morning, said police spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

According to police, the men were last seen in the area of Harrison Avenue on Sept. 16.

The men were seen traveling in a white pickup truck, getting out and knocking on doors in the area, around 1:30 a.m., police said.

"One male approached a residence carrying a large knife, possibly a machete or saw," police said, "while another male remained outside of the gate."

Police said the men started looking around the home, possibly for ways to enter, but the resident's dog began barking and scared them off.

"Please remain vigilant," police said.
