Election Update: Menendez And Ali To Face Off For Congress In Tuesday Primary
Who will represent Hoboken and part of Jersey City in Congress? The primary is Tuesday.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — In this year's elections for Congress, campaigns may be won and lost based on the candidate's record in office and support (or lack thereof) for the sitting president.
In New Jersey's 8th Congressional District — which includes Hoboken, part of Jersey City, part of Newark, and several other Hudson County towns — both candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in June have been critical of Pres. Donald Trump.
In the Democratic primary this Tuesday, Rob Menendez Jr. must defend his record against former Jersey City school board President Mussab Ali.

Menendez is currently serving his second two-year term, and is seeking a third.

The candidates for the Democratic nomination are:
- Robert J. Menendez (incumbent)
- Mussab Ali
Early voting has already begun in the race, and will culminate Tuesday. The polls will be open that day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The 8th Congressional District includes Bayonne, East Newark, Elizabeth, Guttenberg, Harrison, Hoboken, part of Jersey City, part of Kearny, North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken, and West New York.
