Decal On Car Led Cops To Hudson Co. Man Who Asked Teen For Nudes Over Discord: Officials

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man who met up with a 15-year-old boy at Burger King is behind bars after telling the boy to sexually assault his sister and send nude photos, officials say.

Christopher Drew, 38, of Jersey City, was charged in early September with manufacturing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials, endangering the welfare of a child, and debauching the morals of a child, said the office of New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport on Wednesday.

Court documents obtained by Patch reveal more about what led to the arrest.

Prosecutors said that on Sept. 1, New Jersey State Police got a tip about a Discord chat in which a man told a child in New Jersey to sexually assault his younger sister.

The man also told the child to send him a photo of his exposed penis, prosecutors say.

According to the complaint, after police got the tip about the chat, they went to the North Jersey home of the victim, a 15-year-old boy.

The victim's parents gave permission for police to search his devices. Police determined that the boy "was actively communicating with and meeting an adult male," the complaint says.

Police determined that the suspect had told told the boy to show pornography to his younger sister, to commit a sexual act with her, and to send the man a photo of his penis.

The boy then told police he knew the man as "Charlie" and that he had just met up with him the previous day at a Burger King in Clifton.

The boy also described a unique decal he saw on the man's car, police said.

Decal Leads To Identification

Police got surveillance video from Burger King, saw the car with the decal, and tracked down the owner's Driver's License photo, according to the complaint.

When they showed the photo to the boy, the victim said, "That's Charlie!" according to the police report.

On Sept. 4, detectives searched Drew's Jersey City home, prosecutors say.

That was when he was arrested and charged with first-degree manufacturing child sex abuse and exploitation materials, and with several counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The case is being investigated by New Jersey State Police and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Anton Kiryako, officials said.
