Lacey Man Drowns After Getting Caught In Rip Current: Police
David Maldonado-Ocelotl, 28, drowned in Ship Bottom after he and three others got caught in a rip current, police said.
SHIP BOTTOM, NJ — A Forked River man died after getting caught in a rip current in Ship Bottom, local police said.
Four people were caught in the rip current off East 21st Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Ship Bottom police said.
When emergency responders arrived, three of the four had made it out of the water and were on the shore, police said. David Maldonado-Ocelotl, 28, remained missing in the surf, police said.

Fire rescue personnel, with the help of local surfers, found Maldonado-Ocelotl in the water, unconscious and not breathing, police said.
Life-saving measures were immediately initiated on the scene and Maldonado-Ocelotl was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
