Labor Day Holiday Changes In Livingston: Closures, Garbage, Recycling

Livingston Town Hall and all township offices will be closed on Sept. 7 for the holiday. Here's what else to know.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston Town Hall and all township offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 for the Labor Day holiday.

All offices will reopen during regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Garbage: NO Collection on Monday, September 7

Garbage will not be collected on Monday, September 7 for Monday/Thursday streets. Garbage will be collected on your next regularly scheduled day, which is Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Recycling: NO Collection on Monday, September 7

There will be no regular paper recycling pickup on Monday, September 7, and collection will move one day later for the rest of the week.

  • Monday, Zone 1, September 7: No pickup; recycling will instead be picked up on Tuesday, September 8
  • Tuesday, Zone 2, September 8: Pickup moves to Wednesday, September 9
  • Wednesday, Zone 3, September 9: Pickup moves to Thursday, September 10
  • Thursday, Zone 4, September 10: Pickup moves to Friday, September 11
  • Friday, Zone 5, September 11: Pickup moves to Saturday, September 12

Metal Recycling: NO Collection on Friday, September 4

There will be no metal recycling pickup on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Metal recycling pickup will resume on Friday, September 11 — register by noon on Thursday, September 10.

Residents are reminded that the metal pickup request form will not be available the week of August 31 through September 4.

Register online for metal pickup starting on Tuesday, September 8 at livingstonnj.org/MetalRequest.
