4 Arrested After Long Valley Motor Vehicle Stops: Blotter
Police said recent stops in Washington Township led to warrants, DWI charges and a stolen vehicle case.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township police said several recent motor vehicle stops during patrol shifts resulted in arrests, criminal charges, and court appearances, including three cases in which drivers were accused of operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police department, one officer stopped a vehicle on Schooleys Mountain Road after observing an equipment violation and a license plate that did not match the vehicle.
During that investigation, police determined the driver, an adult male, had an active NCIC warrant from Pennsylvania. He was taken into custody and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending extradition proceedings.

Police said he was also issued multiple motor vehicle summonses and is scheduled to appear in Washington Township Municipal Court.
In another stop, an officer pulled over a vehicle on East Avenue after observing a moving violation. According to the department, the driver, an adult female, was determined to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Police said she was arrested, charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses and released to a responsible party pending a court appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court.
Police reported a similar arrest after an officer observed a moving violation on Schooleys Mountain Road. During that investigation, the driver, an adult female, was also determined to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
She was arrested, charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses, and released to a responsible party pending a court appearance in Washington Township Municipal Court, according to the department.
In a fourth case, an officer found a disabled vehicle on Schooleys Mountain Road and determined it had been reported stolen from Easton, Pennsylvania, according to police. The department said the driver, an adult male, was determined to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody.
He was charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses and a criminal complaint for receiving stolen property. Police said he was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance and extradition proceedings to Pennsylvania related to an active NCIC warrant.
The department also used the report to issue a holiday safety reminder ahead of the Fourth of July. “DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE .... PLAN AHEAD,” the department wrote. Police also said, “Help keep our roads safe this holiday weekend. One good decision can save a life. Please don't drink and drive.”
