Man Drunkenly Drove To Police HQ In Long Valley: Blotter

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Two drivers were recently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Long Valley, including one man whose alleged impaired driving came to light after he went to police headquarters to report an unrelated matter, authorities said.

According to the Washington Township Police Department, an adult man recently arrived at police headquarters to make a report about an unrelated incident.

While officers were speaking with him and gathering information, they developed information that led them to determine he had operated a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The man was arrested, processed, and later released to a responsible adult in accordance with John’s Law.

In a separate incident, an officer stopped a vehicle on Schooleys Mountain Road for a motor vehicle violation.

During the stop, the officer determined that the adult driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

The driver was taken into custody, processed, and released to a responsible adult under John’s Law.

Police did not identify either driver or provide additional details about the incidents.

Following the arrests, the department reminded residents to arrange for a safe ride home if they plan to drink and never drive while impaired.
