MADISON, NJ — Two veteran sports business executives are bringing a first-of-its-kind pre-college program to Drew University this summer, offering high school students a structured introduction to careers in sports before they set foot on a college campus.

Mary Scott and LeslieAnne Wade launched the Sports Biz Academy Pre-College Program for students interested in sports-related majors and careers.

The weeklong program covers marketing, media, communications, event management, analytics, sponsorship and athlete representation through hands-on learning and access to working industry professionals.

“With more than 500 colleges and universities now offering sports-related majors, students and families are often unsure where to begin,” said program founder Scott. “This program is designed to provide clarity, exposure, and real-world insight before students make important academic and career decisions.”

Wade is a former senior vice president at CBS Sports who now works as a marketing agent and strategic communications advisor, and teaches at Seton Hall University.

“As parents, educators, and longtime industry professionals, we understand how overwhelming the college and career planning process can feel,” Wade said. “We wanted to create a program that gives students meaningful access, practical insight, and confidence as they explore future opportunities in sports.”

The founders said no comparable pre-college sports business program currently exists in New Jersey.
