School In Mahwah Gets Unique Vending Machine: See What's Inside
It's not junk food or soda. The new dispenser in a Mahwah elementary school gives out something special when students earn a token.

MAHWAH, NJ — Students at Lenape Meadows Elementary School in Mahwah got a very special machine on Monday.

The students already participate in the SOARing Positive Behavior Program. SOAR stands for Safe, On Task, Achieve, Respect.
The machine will dispense rewards.

Students who demonstrate positive behaviors will be entered into a raffle to earn a special token.
This token allows them to select a brand-new book of their choice, "turning positive behavior into a tangible and lasting reward," said Interim Assistant Principal Eva Prunk.

Prunk said, "By making reading a celebration rather than an assignment, this program bridges the gap between literacy and engagement, motivating students to view books as something exciting, personal, and rewarding."
The vending machine will be stocked with a diverse selection of high-interest titles across a wide range of genres and reading levels, ensuring accessibility and appeal for all learners.
