Manalapan Police reported 11 incidents of fraud from Jan. 7 through Jan. 13.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, burglary, harassment and more from Jan. 7 through Jan. 13.

Jan. 7
A 73-year-old Manalapan resident alleged that a check they sent via U.S. Postal Service was altered and deposited with a larger amount than they wrote, putting them at a loss totaling $640.

A 62-year-old Manalapan resident reported that the address associated with their social security number had been changed without their knowledge. The resident is at no monetary loss at this time.

A 47-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone opened a second phone line and added a new iPhone to their Verizon account. The person also withdrew about $6,500 from their PayPal account.

Jan. 8
A 48-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their vehicle and part of their home were damaged with eggs and a white powdery substance.

A 19-year-old Manalapan resident advised that someone opened up a credit card under their name. The resident is at no monetary loss at this time.

A 67-year-old Manalapan resident reported that at 4:09 a.m., four people tried to gain access to their home by trying to enter through the sliding glass door and breaking a window on the front exterior of the home. No entry into the home was made.

A 22-year-old Monroe resident reported that someone stole the lug nuts off the front driver's side wheel of their vehicle, resulting in the wheel and tire coming off the vehicle while driving, causing damage to the vehicle. The person reports the approximate value of the lug nuts and damage to the vehicle to be around $1,500.

A 63-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they were being harassed over text message by a 61-year-old Manalapan resident.

A 65-year-old Manalapan resident tried to strike a 32-year-old Hazlet resident with a club after a verbal argument took place. Neither party sustained any injuries, and neither party wished to pursue the matter.

Jan. 9
At 9:03 a.m., a Manalapan business on Woodward Road reported that four vehicles were burglarized in their parking lot during the overnight hours.

Multiple power tools and various food items were stolen. The total monetary loss is currently unknown.

Jan. 10
A 55-year-old Manalapan resident reported that people posing as employees from Wells Fargo defrauded the victim. The victim is currently at a loss of $10,000.

A 73-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their bank account was fraudulently charged $99,654. The resident has since had their money returned by their financial institution and is currently at no monetary loss.

A 24-year-old Marlboro resident reported that on Jan. 9, between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 4 a.m., someone damaged the tires and mirror of their vehicle, which was parked at a Manalapan business.

Jan. 11
A 50-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their credit cards had been fraudulently charged. Additionally, it was discovered that the resident was a victim of identity theft. The victim has since had their money returned by their credit card companies and is at no monetary loss at this time.

A 41-year-old Manalapan resident reported that three or four people they did not know entered their vehicle, which was parked in the resident’s driveway at 4:05 a.m. on Jan. 8, and stole about $1,800 worth of various clothing and luggage.

Jan. 12
A 73-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their iPhone 14 was missing, which they believed was stolen. The victim reported that the item is valued at approximately $278.

A 68-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone fraudulently used two of their credit cards, putting them at a monetary loss of $12,174.98.

An 81-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to fraudulently withdraw money from their banking account in the amount of $372.90.

Jan. 13
A Manalapan resident reported that someone fraudulently signed a check under their name in the amount of $5,330.

A Staten Island, NY, business reported that a Manalapan business issued them bad checks, resulting in a total monetary loss in the amount of $9,517.21.
