Theft, Fraud, Vehicle Fire: Manalapan Police Blotter

Manalapan Police reported six theft-related incidents from Feb. 11 through Feb. 17.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of theft, fraud, vehicle fire and more from Feb. 11 through Feb. 17.

Feb. 11

A construction company reported that someone stole five copper wire rolls from a construction site sometime overnight. The company reported a monetary loss of approximately $3,800.

Feb. 13

A Manalapan resident reported that at an unknown time between Feb. 12 and Feb. 13, someone removed approximately 30-50 pieces of mail and packages from the victim’s mailbox, resulting in a total loss of $5,085 to the victim.

At 3:55 p.m., police responded to a Manalapan business on U.S. Highway 9 for a report of shoplifting that had just occurred. The accused is described as a female who tried to leave the store with $277.70 worth of merchandise without rendering proper payment. The incident is under further investigation.

Feb. 14

Two Manalapan residents reported fraudulent activity in their bank accounts. The residents reported that they had spoken with an unidentified man asking for information, who later withdrew money from their account. The residents are at a monetary loss of $4,422.26 at this time.

Feb. 15

A 21-year-old Manalapan resident reported that $189.49 worth of Instacart groceries were unlawfully removed from their front porch.

Feb. 16

At 11:20 a.m., Manalapan Police responded to the area of Tennent Road and Kelton Place for a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, the Gordons Corner Fire Department successfully extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries during the incident.

A Manalapan business reported that $100 worth of services was not paid for by a customer. The case is pending complaints.

Feb. 17

An employee from a business on U.S. Highway 9 in Manalapan reported theft of property that occurred on Feb. 11 at 5:05 p.m. It was reported that three people worked together to steal eight items from the business, totaling $439.92. The identities of the individuals are unknown.

At 8 p.m., Ptlm. Christopher Capuzzo conducted a motor vehicle stop on U.S. Highway 9 for motor vehicle violations. After further investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with being in possession of a stolen license plate, altering the VIN of a motor vehicle and obstruction. The driver was brought to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters, where they were processed and lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
