County Will Mosquito Spray In Manasquan Friday

MANASQUAN, NJ — Due to the presence of West Nile virus detected in Manasquan, Monmouth County will do a precautionary adult mosquito spray throughout the entire borough between the hours of 3:00-6:00 a.m. Friday (Sept. 18).

The County Office of Mosquito Control will be applying Zenivex using Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayers mounted in the bed of a pick-up truck.

This will be done from 3 - 6 a.m. Friday throughout the whole town of Manasquan.

“Mid-July through September is the peak time for West Nile virus activity,” said Commissioner Susan M. Kiley, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services. “When people are outdoors, they should take precautions such as using repellents or wearing long-sleeve shirts and long pants to avoid mosquito bites. Residents can also reduce the presence of mosquitoes by dumping any containers holding water around their property.”
