Bringing The Heat In Maplewood-South Orange: Record-Breaking Temperatures Possible In NJ

SOUTH ORANGE-MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Get ready for a warm week of weather in South Orange and Maplewood – and the possibility of breaking some daily temperature records.

Surging temperatures could bring a “record-breaking” warmth to New Jersey, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS).

The average temperature in April for New Jersey is in the mid-60s. The record highest temperature in Trenton for April 15 is 87 degrees, which was set in 1994, according to the National Weather Service. RELATED: Record-Shattering Heat To Scorch NJ This Week

In South Orange and Maplewood, a high temperature of 89 degrees is predicted for this week.

Here is the latest local forecast for the South Orange-Maplewood area from the NWS:

Monday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. West wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Light southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers between 2pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 87.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 81.
