80-Year-Old Man Killed In Marlboro Township Crash, Authorities Say

MARLBORO, NJ — A New Jersey man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Marlboro Township on Friday, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office told Patch.

Shortly after 11:45 a.m. on Friday, members of the Marlboro Township Police Department responded to State Route 79 at the intersection of Blossom Avenue for a motor vehicle crash.

The two vehicles involved in the crash were then identified as a 2002 Toyota Camry Solara, driven by an 80-year-old man from the Whiting section of Manchester Township, and a 2022 Ford F350, driven by a 52-year-old man from the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.

According to the prosecutor's office, the Solara was going south on Route 79 when it entered the opposing lane, colliding with the F350, which was going north.

The crash closed Route 79 between Blossom Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road on Friday afternoon before it reopened shortly before 5 p.m.

Following the collision, the driver of the Solara was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, authorities said.

The driver of the F350 did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

As of Monday morning, authorities have not released the identities of those involved in the crash.

An investigation involving members of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Marlboro Township Police Department is ongoing.
