Colts Neck Caneiro Murders Will Be On 'Dateline' Friday Night

COLTS NECK, NJ — A quadruple murder that rocked Monmouth County in 2018 will be featured on NBC's "Dateline" Friday night.

The episode is called “Slow Burn" and it will air at 10 p.m. Friday. It will be a one-hour episode.

Paul Caneiro, now 59, is the former Ocean Township resident who shared ownership of multiple businesses with his younger brother, Keith Caneiro, who lived in Colts Neck.

The two brothers had begun arguing about the businesses and money, and it would later be revealed that Paul Caneiro was stealing from the businesses.

On Nov. 20, 2018, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving day, the bodies of Keith Caneiro, 50, his wife, Jennifer, 45, and their two children, Jesse, 11, and Sophia, 8, were found murdered inside their palatial Colts Neck estate at 15 Willow Brook Road; the home was then set on fire.

Paul fatally shot his brother on the front lawn, and then brutally stabbed the wife and children to death inside the house. He then allegedly set the home on fire; the wife and children's bodies were reportedly charred beyond recognition when they were found.

Paul then drove to his home in Ocean Township and set his own home on fire while his wife and daughters were sleeping inside, allegedly as a ruse to make detectives think he was being targeted as well.

In February of this year, Caneiro was convicted on all counts, including the four murders. He was sentenced in May to four life sentences in prison.

At the time, then-Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni said it was "the most brutal" criminal case he's ever witnessed.

Several Monmouth County residents will be interviewed on Friday night's "Dateline" episode, including former Colts Neck mayor J.P. Bartolomeo and the childhood friends of Jesse and Sophia Caneiro, the two children who were killed, reported NJ.com. Assistant Monmouth County prosecutors Chris Decker and Nicole Wallace, who prosecuted the case that resulted in four lifetime prison sentences, will also be interviewed.
