Kevin Walsh, a retired Colts Neck police officer and a member of the Board of Education (BOE) is running for Colts Neck public office. Walsh has already dedicated 30 years of public service to our charming community.
Walsh with his polite, engaging and soft spoken approach has come under repeated attacks by a resident, who appears to be the self-appointed campaign manager for two other Republican candidates.
If the actions of this person, are a reflection of the two other Republican candidates, then all of Colts Necks benefits with a Walsh victory. Walsh brings poise, balance and fiscal responsibility to public office.

The misguided propaganda by one person, can have significant consequences for voters. Election misinformation is a danger even in Colts Neck…prompting this unaffiliated voter, to share the facts.
One such wrongful statement was “Walsh and his wife would control over $49 million dollars of our tax revenue”. Our Town Committee reviews and passes the annual budget, managing expenditures for town operations.
With a Walsh win, he will be one of five Committee Members. No single person 'controls' the revenue; it is governed by collective votes in Public Meetings, which are the primary venue for financial oversight.

The BOE budget is supported by an annual audit process undertaken by an independent third-party accounting firm, as mandated by law. The BOE commitment to financial integrity, transparency and utilization of taxpayer resources is unquestionable. With transparency, there is accountability.
It is intuitively obvious even to the most casual observer, the smear campaign against Mr. Walsh, now includes questioning the fiscal responsibility of the BOE…which I find reprehensible.
Reference was made to Walsh as a BOE member and the cash reserve management funds. The BOE cash reserve funds are in accordance with NJ law.
While NJ law allows a 2% annual increase each year, Walsh and the BOE team maintained a near-zero increase over three years, effectively saving taxpayers $3.2 Million.
The Monmouth County Board of Election confirmed Walsh is running in the Republican Party Primary. Kevin Walsh is in fact a registered Republican and one of three (not two) republicans seeking your vote!
The First Amendment strongly protects the right to display political signs on private property. This topic was addressed last election, by the Township Attorney, Meghan Bennett. The Walsh signs are in accordance with the law!
There is no law limiting when political signs are allowed to go up. Political signs on private residential property are permitted, according to the New Jersey Supreme Court ruling in Mazdabrook Commons v. Khan.
The First Amendment doesn’t take time outs just because a disgruntled Colts Neck resident has an axe to grind over Kevin Walsh, his wife and the BOE.
There are no laws prohibiting the collection of signatures for an election petition, on public property. Seeking a place on the ballot is a fundamental part of the democratic process.
The senior resident, acting like a campaign manager gone bad, had no right to interfere, aggressively object, then prohibit Kevin Walsh from speaking with residents in Township Hall prior to a public meeting. Then she falsely posted, “I have never seen him at a meeting”
