Name Released Of Aberdeen Man Hit, Killed By Car While Carrying His Son

He was hit by a car while carrying his son on his shoulders, and walking in a crosswalk at Cliffwood Avenue where it crosses Rt. 35.

ABERDEEN, NJ — The man hit by a car and killed Saturday night in Aberdeen, while carrying his 4-year-old son through a crosswalk, is identified as Anthony A. Trujillo, 38, said a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor.

Trujillo lived in Aberdeen.

As of Tuesday afternoon, his son is still hospitalized at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, but the child is in stable condition.

Trujillo was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk at Cliffwood Avenue, where it crosses Rt. 35. A 2015 Nissan Frontier hit him at 9:16 p.m. Saturday. Trujillo was in the crosswalk, carrying his son on his shoulders, but it is unknown if he had a green light to cross. Police have not answered that question.

The impact propelled him into the left-center northbound lanes of Rt. 35, and he was later pronounced dead on scene. His son was rushed to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

The driver of the Nissan Frontier remained at the scene. At this time, no charges or summonses have been filed.
