Deni Bonet&nbsp;is a dynamic, classically trained violinist who would rather strut around a stage than sit in an orchestra chair. Her style ranges from pop to roots-rock to new folk. She has recorded with Pete Seeger and was a founding member of the house band for National Public Radio’s “Mountain Stage,” where she backed renowned artists as diverse as the Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, and Allen Toussaint. But Bonet also has performed at the White House and the Great Wall of China, and toured in Cyndi Lauper’s backup band. The Wall Street Journal once described her singular sound as “Sheryl Crow meets The B-52s.” Her musical partner, guitarist&nbsp;Chris Flynn, has accompanied Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ronnie Spector, Garland Jeffreys, Willie Nile, and numerous other notable performers, and he has performed in top venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
Spencer LaJoye is making queer indie folk music for everyone. They are a coast-to-coast singer/songwriter and vocal loop artist with Midwest roots, a classically-trained violinist with an inner theater kid’s love of group choreography, and a student of Americana music with a theology degree hanging in their studio. The 2021 Kerrville Songwriting Competition winner and 2024 Songwriter Serenade winner has been writing and touring their autobiographical folk songs for over a decade, but their viral 2021 anthem “Plowshare Prayer” secured them a permanent place in hearts and households across the world, as well as a peculiar career as a veracious songsmith with an unshakeable pastoral presence. Charming and banter-heavy, Spencer’s performances keep audiences laughing one moment and weeping the next.

Exhibitor Registration:
$15 (Registration table located at the top of Perry Street.) All registration of exhibitor cars is done onsite the morning of the show. No pre-registration for exhibitors is required.

The Conservation and Stewardship Committee welcomes your involvement in helping to maintain Schiff's trails, open space, and buildings. Giving back to the local nature preserve that you enjoy on a regular basis can be very satisfying... Each work session provides community members a 2 hour opportunity to work side by side with Schiff staff and Board members in a variety of hands-on land stewardship projects. Depending on the season, we may be clearing trails, removing invasive species, planting native trees and shrubs, conducting building repairs, restoring fences and bridges, or raking out the Native Garden. Volunteers (16 and under with a parent) are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, bring sunscreen and bug spray as appropriate, and bring a beverage and snack in a backpack for hands free walking. Meet us at the Nature Center and bring garden or work gloves. Tools provided by Schiff. Volunteers are asked to sign a waiver, provide photo release, and may bring and use their own tools if they prefer. Please pre-register online so we can plan projects accordingly.

Joe Cirotti Quartet, a well-oiled string band from the shadows of Northwest Jersey’s Appalachian ridge, fuses their multi-instrumentalist upbringings with a passion for the roots of American folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass. Their bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for roots music and whiskey. Formed in 2015, the Tri sometimes plays as a quartet featuring Joe Cirotti: guitar, Pete Lister: upright bass, Timmy Coyle: mandolin and guitar continues to craft a sound steeped in tradition yet infused with modern twists. The group also occasionally plays as a 4/5-piece ensemble, adding banjo, fiddle, dobro, percussion, or even more mandolin, often joined by founding member Mike Alexander. Their debut release, “Joe Cirotti Trio”, launched on CD and Vinyl in December 2023, and is streaming on all major platforms. They find common musical ground in influences like Doc Watson, Tony Rice, and Garcia/Grisman, but also as diverse as Django Reinhardt, Pink Floyd, and Van Halen. This stirs up a one-of-a-kind blend of Americana, bluegrass, alt-country, and gypsy jazz, and acoustic pop.
The Music in the Woods concert series is being held in a large outdoor Amphitheatre setting requiring guests to arrive by 3:30 pm to allow for the 30-minute walk uphill on irregular terrain to the venue. For those who purchase a ticket along with a handicap parking spot (free of charge), special parking instructions will be emailed upon showing proof of a "Handicap Placard". Parking at the Nature Center is limited, so carpooling is suggested. Guests may BYOB, snacks, and pillows for your comfort. Those on foot entering from Brookrace, ride-ins on bike, and vaccinated, friendly dogs on leash are always welcome. However, advance ticket purchases are required. Current Member fee is $20. Schiff membership and MITW ticket bundle pricing are $65. Non- member fee is $25. Children under the age of 5 are free. Outdoor events occur shy of rain or thunderstorms. Refunds will be processed automatically in the event of cancellation.
