Mendham School's Redevelopment Continues Ahead Of School Year

MENDHAM, NJ — As students and staff enjoy summer break, major changes and additions to Mendham Borough School District remain underway.

The school district provided an update on its projects, showing the raising of the upcoming performing arts center. This project, plus several others, are improvements approved by voters through the district's 2025 bond referendum.

"Once complete, this state-of-the-art addition will provide expanded opportunities for music, theater, public speaking, and arts education – creating a space where students can learn, perform, and build confidence for generations to come," a statement read. "Every day of construction is another step toward opening the curtain on an exciting new chapter for our schools."

Other referendum-funded work is also underway while school is out of session. At Mountain View Middle School, construction has started on a new sixth-grade science lab designed to support hands-on STEM learning, according to the district. The school is also getting a roof replacement project that the district said will improve the building's integrity and efficiency.

At Hilltop School, the library media center is being transformed into what the district described as a modern, flexible learning environment. The district said the updated space is intended to better support student learning.

The district also announced a separate grant award tied to Hilltop School. Mendham Borough School District received a $63,700 Local Recreation Improvement Grant through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to enhance outdoor learning and play opportunities at the school and for the broader community.

According to the district, the grant will pay for a music-themed inclusive playground designed to create an accessible space where children of all abilities can play together. The district said it plans to continue sharing updates as construction progresses.
