Kick off MTPL’s “Unearth a Story” summer reading challenge and step into the world of dinosaurs on Saturday, June 6 at 1:30 pm! This isn’t just a movie viewing — it’s a full audience participation experience. Guests will roar along with the T-Rex, react to iconic scenes, answer trivia challenges, and take part in themed activities throughout the film. Expect props, surprises, costume contests, and plenty of laughs as we bring the adventure of Isla Nublar to life together. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or seeing the classic on the big screen for the first time, this immersive event promises thrills, nostalgia, and nonstop fun.

New Jersey Book Club: Three Hundred Years Hence

Join us on Monday, June 8 at 12 pm for a discussion of Three Hundred Years Hence by Mary Griffith, a utopian science fiction novel published in 1836 and considered the first known science fiction novel written by an American woman. The story follows a hero who falls into a deep sleep and awakens 300 years later in the utopian states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Tech Tuesdays: Computer Basics for Windows Platform & Design with Canva Basics

Familiarize yourself with your computer or learn to create graphic designs at a Tech Tuesday session in June at MTPL. Join us on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:30 pm to learn the basics of using a mouse, keyboard keys, file storage, and customization for increased accessibility. Later in the month, on Tuesday, June 23 at 2:30 pm, learn the basics of creating eye-catching graphics using Canva, a free online design platform that makes it easy to create professional-looking designs.

Join us on Friday, June 12 at 2 pm for an afternoon highlighting some of the greatest hits from the 1940s through the 1980s. Rhythm N Sound will feature songs spanning genres including Doo-Wop, Rock N’ Roll, Motown, Disco, and Classic Rock.

Community History Fair

On Saturday, June 13 from 1 to 4 pm, join us for the second annual Community History Fair, featuring local historical organizations dedicated to preserving and making accessible Middletown’s rich history. The library will discuss its “Engaging with Middletown History” project, and attendees are invited to create a square for the Community Quilt.

Genealogy Club

Join us on Wednesday, June 17 at 2 pm as guest Mary Hussey of the Office of the Monmouth County Clerk, Archives Division, discusses how to use the Archives and how its records can aid in genealogical research. Bring your questions, brick walls, and curiosity.

Creative Writing Workshop

On Friday, June 26 at 11 am, join us for “Unearth Your Middletown Story,” a special memoir writing program presented in conjunction with the MTPL Community History Project. Participants will reflect on their personal connections to Middletown, NJ and craft a short memoir-style piece inspired by their experiences, memories, neighborhoods, traditions, or local landmarks.
