May Children's And Teens' Programs At Middletown Public Library

What's planned this May:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Spring is in full swing and the Middletown Township Public Library has a fresh lineup of programs for kids and teens in May — from crafts and storytimes to clubs and community events.

Registration is required for most programs. Visit mtpl.org to sign up and save your spot.

The Brainy Bunch – Wednesdays at 4:30 pm: Join a weekly STEM-based program for Grade K–5 combining education, experimentation and fun.

Duplo Free Play – Fridays at 11 am: Bring your little builders for open-ended Duplo playtime! Ages 2+ are invited to get creative, build big, and have fun together — no registration needed.

Dinosaur Storytime and Craft – Saturday, May 2 at 10 am: Get a head start on Summer Reading with a special dinosaur-themed storytime and craft previewing this year's "Unearth A Story" program. We'll enjoy fun dinosaur stories and make a craft to take home. For ages 3+.

LEGO Club for Tweens– Monday, May 4 at 6 pm: Learn to build fun creations with rotating themed challenges, STEAM-focused activities, and free build time. For ages 9–12.

Paint Your Own Flowerpot – Tuesday, May 5 at 3:30 pm: Join the Bayshore Family Success Center to paint a flowerpot with acrylic paint. For ages 3+.

Tween Game Night – Tuesday, May 5 at 7 pm: Bring a friend or make a friend while playing games like Trivia, Bingo, Pictionary, HeadsUp and more. For ages 9–12.

Cards for a Cause – Wednesday, May 6 from 3–5 pm: Drop in to make greeting cards for Middletown veterans. Volunteer hours will be offered for each card with a limit of 5 cards for 5 hours. For ages 13–18.

Gymboree for Walkers/Crawlers – Thursday, May 7 at 10 am and 11 am: Gymboree of Red Bank will offer gym classes for toddlers and babies.

Astronaut Storytime & Craft – Friday, May 8 at 10 am: Join Monmouth Museum for a special moon and astronaut-themed storytime and craft inspired by their space exhibit in the museum's STEAM wing.

Community Leader Storytime – Saturday, May 9 at 10 am: Middletown Deputy Chief of Police Paul Bailey will read stories and share what it takes to be a police officer. For all ages.

Caterpillar Pom Pom Craft – Monday, May 11 at 4 pm: Create adorable caterpillar pom-pom crafts using colorful pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and a bit of creativity — a fun take-home keepsake for all ages.

Gymboree for Babies – Tuesday, May 12 at 12:30 pm: A Gymboree experience specially designed for newborns to 7 months, featuring music, props, a floor mirror, parachute and bubbles.

Teen Pokémon Trivia Night – Wednesday, May 13 at 7 pm: Test your Pokémon knowledge for a chance to win fun prizes at this trivia night for teens ages 13–18.

Tween Book Club – Tuesday, May 12 at 4:15 pm: Tweens will dive into this month's book selection, share what they liked, what they'd change, and then enjoy a related activity like a themed scavenger hunt or creative writing exercise. For ages 9–12.

Read to a Dog – Thursday, May 14 at 4 pm & Monday, May 18 at 6 pm: Help build literacy skills by reading ten minutes to a certified therapy dog. Four sessions are available on each date. For independent readers in Grades K–5.

Low Tide Craft Club Jr – Saturday, May 16 at 10 am: Dive into a morning of movement, music and art inspired by the ocean! Swim like a dolphin, walk like a crab, and groove like a jellyfish to the ukulele tunes of Billy, then create an ocean-inspired craft led by local art teacher and artist Marilyn Casey.

Sensory Family Storytime – Monday, May 18 at 11 am: Read, sing, dance, and play, then explore our interactive sensory stations! Designed for ages 0–3.

Teen Anime Club – Monday, May 18 at 4 pm: Can you identify an anime from a terrible description? Come compete against friends and find out! For ages 10+.

Bookworms Book Club – Thursday, May 21 at 4:15 pm: Join the Bookworms Book Club for grades K–3 to share your love of reading and take part in the Bookworms Reading Challenge!

Pokémon Trading Night (Ages 5–8) – Thursday, May 21 at 6 pm: Join fellow Pokémon fans to trade cards, chat about Pokémon books and movies, and play the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Bring your own deck!

Tween Craft Night – Tuesday, May 26 at 6:45 pm: Just in time for summer, join us to make mixed media beach art in this creative evening session. For ages 9–12.

Yankee Doodle Books and Bubbles – Thursday, May 28 at 10 am: Celebrate America's 250th anniversary with a festive Yankee Doodle storytime held outside in the Children's Garden, complete with bubbles!
