Middletown Man, Keansburg Woman Had Crack Cocaine, Guns In Local Motel Room, Police Say

This was last Sunday at the Red Roof Inn in Tinton Falls:

TINTON FALLS, NJ — A Middletown man and Keansburg woman were arrested last Sunday, June 14 at the Red Roof Inn in Tinton Falls, Tinton Falls Police announced on their Facebook page.

On that date, Tinton Falls Police executed a search warrant at the Red Roof Inn, near the Rt. 18/Garden State Parkway interchange.

Craig Twigg, 40, of Middletown and Lynette Scarantino, 44, of Keansburg were both arrested. Police said they found an illegal handgun in the motel room and a sawed-off shotgun, plus crack cocaine and prescription pills.

Both Twigg and Scarantino were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, possession of a firearm while committing certain drug offenses, possession of controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine and various type of prescription medications), possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say the woman tried to hide the man under a bed when police officers first entered the room.

Scarantino was additionally charged with hindering apprehension for her role in concealing Twigg under a bed in an attempt to avoid Twigg being arrested on an outstanding warrant.

She was processed and released on a summons and Twigg was processed and taken to the Monmouth County jail.
