2-Time Super Bowl Champion Rick Lovato Speaks At Middletown High School South

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Former Eagles long snapper and two-time Super Bowl champion Rick Lovato was at Middletown High School South, which is the high school he graduated from.

Lovato was in town Thursday because a street was named after him: Part of Swimming River Road was named “Rick Lovato Way." The public will see the signs up.

Lovato spoke to students at South Thursday. Former Middletown High School South football coach Steve Antonucci was also there Thursday, and he also spoke to students. Antonucci coached Lovato at South.

Lovato was born in Neptune and grew up in Middletown; he got his start playing football for Middletown, which is where he first started as long snapper, when he was a high school freshman.

After high school, Lovato played for Old Dominion and then the NFL, where he played most of his career for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lovato retired from professional football in 2025.

Thursday's event was attended by Lovato and his family, Middletown public school district officials, Mayor Tony Perry and Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone.
