Helicopter Mosquito Treatment Planned Over Montville Wednesday, Thursday
Montville is among eight Morris County municipalities slated for aerial mosquito larvicide applications.
MONTVILLE, NJ — If you spot a helicopter over Montville this week, Morris County has a mosquito treatment operation scheduled for the township.
The county will perform an aerial mosquito larvicide application in Montville and seven other municipalities Wednesday and Thursday, beginning at 7 a.m., according to a notice published Tuesday.
The county said the operation is being conducted “due to high populations of larval mosquitoes in aquatic habitats.”

Applications will be made by helicopter using VectoPrime FG, an insecticide containing Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis and (S)-methoprene as active ingredients.
The treatment is aimed at mosquito larvae, which the county described as the immature stage of adult mosquitoes. Their habitat is standing water.

“This operation will NOT be treating adult mosquitoes,” the county said.
