Montville Group Donates Concert Proceeds To First Aid Squad

MONTVILLE, NJ — A local civic group has turned a concert celebrating free expression into support for Montville’s volunteer emergency responders.

Visibility Brigade Montville Rising presented money collected during the nationally streamed Rise Up, Sing Out! Concert for the First Amendment to the Montville Township First Aid Squad on Thursday, September 3, according to a news release. The concert took place Sunday, June 14. The release did not disclose the amount donated.

The all-volunteer squad has served Montville for more than 60 years, responding to medical emergencies and assisting at community events, including football games, high school graduation and Montville Day.

“The Montville Township First Aid Squad is vital for the health of our community,” group spokesperson Neeke Swart said.

Swart said organizers became concerned when the squad nearly lost funding in the spring. She encouraged residents to support its work and donate through the squad’s website.

Visibility Brigade Montville Rising describes itself as a grassroots, nonpartisan organization working to increase civic participation. Its activities have included vigils, protests and a weekly bridge demonstration in Pine Brook.

For Montville residents, the donation highlights the community’s reliance on volunteers who provide emergency medical assistance and support some of the township’s biggest public gatherings each year.
