Support Surges For NJ Boy Gravely Injured By Baseball To The Head

He was flown to the hospital on Tuesday.

MAPLE SHADE, NJ — The Maple Shade community came together on Thursday night at a prayer vigil for a 12-year-old who was injured on a baseball field.

Xavier Taylor, of Maple Shade, was hit in the face by an off-target throw while playing in town on Tuesday, according to ESPN Radio.

"Together, we flooded the gates of Heaven with prayers for Xavier and the Taylor family," a tribute, along with a photo of the vigil, that was shared on social media read.

Xavier was flown to Cooper Hospital on Tuesday after he collapsed.

The family called on the community to help "speak life over Xavier and pray for a miracle of full brain function" in a post shared on Facebook.

The current status of his injuries is unclear.

So far, more than $72,000 has been raised to support the family with meals during the hope for recovery.
