Good Grief will honor longtime supporter, volunteer, and leader Mark Durham for more than a decade of service at its annual Gala on October 20 at The Park Savoy.
Over the past decade, Durham has served Good Grief in numerous leadership roles, including as a board member, board chair, and Executive Director. His longstanding commitment reflects the community of volunteers and supporters who help Good Grief provide free peer support to grieving children and families while expanding grief education and support in schools and communities.
“Mark’s tireless efforts for Good Grief over the last decade have been nothing short of inspiring,” said Guy Langford, Good Grief trustee and former board chair. “Whenever leadership was needed to advance Good Grief’s mission, whether as a board member, board chair, or Executive Director, Mark always stepped up to the plate to put our kids and families first. He’s been a selfless champion for Good Grief and inspires so many others to join the amazing work that Good Grief does.”
The evening will also recognize longtime volunteers who have demonstrated that same commitment to Good Grief’s community. Jason Friedman, Steve Gilbert, and Robin Van Hessen will each be celebrated for 10 years of service as volunteer facilitators. High school senior Izzy Berger will also be recognized for supporting Good Grief through three benefit concerts and volunteering with its Grief Expressions Summer Camp.
Champion sponsor Sharp Financial and presenting sponsor PwC join Good Grief in celebrating their long-standing volunteers, including 10-year facilitators Jason Friedman, Steve Gilbert, and Robin Van Hessen.&nbsp; Good Grief also celebrates high school senior Izzy Berger, who has supported Good Grief through three benefit concerts and also served as a camp volunteer.&nbsp;

“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of Good Grief,” said Christian Heiss, Executive Director of Good Grief. “They give so much to the families we serve, and it is a privilege to honor them on this special evening.”
Funds raised through the Gala help make Good Grief’s work possible and allows the organization to provide free support. The organization provides free, ongoing peer support to grieving children and families through its Family Centers in Morristown and Princeton, while its education initiatives bring grief-informed training, curriculum, and resources to schools and communities throughout New Jersey.

Good Grief is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build resilience in children, strengthen families, and empower communities to grow from loss and adversity. Year-round you’ll find 10,000+ books, fiction and nonfiction, including vintage, signed, classics and new releases, plus DVD’s, CD’s, puzzles and more. All are donated by the community, and offered at incredible prices! New inventory is added daily so shop often!
TO SHOP &nbsp;Visit the Friends of the Morristown and Morris Township Library book shop every Tuesday and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, except July/August. Open 10 – 2. Hamilton Stage, Union County Performing Arts Center

MADISON, NJ – Mortenveld Productions of Madison, New Jersey, is proud to announce that its award-winning short film COMPANY has been selected for The Screening Room at Hamilton Stage, a Student &amp; Independent Film Showcase presented by the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC).
The screening will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Hamilton Stage in Rahway, New Jersey. The film's screening block begins at 4:20 p.m., with COMPANY expected to be shown at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Starring Georgette Castro, COMPANY is a 29-minute comedy short film that explores a thought-provoking question: “Are we defined by the company we work for or the company we keep?”
Produced by Madison-based Mortenveld Productions, the film has received more than 30 recognitions through film festivals and independent film competitions.
The Screening Room at Hamilton Stage celebrates the creativity and achievements of student and independent filmmakers, offering audiences an opportunity to experience their work on the big screen in the venue's 199-seat theater.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free. Mortenveld Productions invites the community to attend and support independent filmmaking and the talented artists who bring these stories to life.

Do you love horror movies and helping to support your community? Join us for a fun and scary time and help us raise funds for our unhoused friends and neighbors to stay safe and warm this winter.Everyone needs and deserves a home, and the exclusion of some of our neighbors from housing is the biggest horror of our communities, a malignancy that targets a few but spreads its tendrils throughout our neighborhoods and society. It's an ongoing nightmare that many people will walk right by, intentionally keeping their gaze averted so they can try to feel safe from it. But the horror could turn its own gaze to you anyway. It could reach any of us.

If that's not scary enough for you, or if it's too scary for you, then come to our Halloween horror film screening for more scares and to raise funds to help keep some of our unhoused friends safe and warm with hotel stays through the upcoming cold months. It is not a solution, but it will help more people survive another year while we work to figure out long-term housing systems. The evil grows every year. But together, we can make real change.

Watch six films (not for children!) directed by local award-winning indie filmmaker Christine Jansen, followed by a Q&amp;A. Opening will be contemporary singer / songwriter Michael Arthur, whose poignant songs explore the breadth and depth of the human experience. Accompanying himself on solo acoustic guitar, Michael employs lush open guitar tunings as the canvas for his powerful and emotive vocal performances. He was a finalist in the Mid Atlantic Song Contest, winner of the ACT Songwriters Big Shootout, and silver medalist in the Susquehanna Folk Music Society Songwriting Competition.
