Dog Trapped In Shed For Days Saved By Morris Co. Rescue Team
The dog, a poodle named Raven, went days without food or water.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A dog that found itself trapped in a shed for the better part of a week was recently rescued in Morris County.
On Saturday, Blairstown-based Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery was notified by the Rockaway Police Department that a poodle named Raven had been trapped in a shed for days.
According to the shelter, a suspect who allegedly stole an Amazon van on Aug. 19 and was “on the run” had stashed Raven inside a shed on a Rockaway property.

Details on the alleged Amazon van theft were not immediately available, but the shelter representatives say police learned that the dog, Raven, had been stashed in the shed, and a search for her was underway. Authorities didn’t know about the dog until Saturday, meaning she was without food and water for four days, officials added.
Police were searching in sheds around town when they heard Raven whining inside one.

“When the shed was opened, (Raven) was in terrible shape,” rescue team representatives said. “She collapsed, managed to drink some water, and then, terrified and completely overwhelmed, ran off.”
At this point, on Saturday evening, Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery joined the search for Raven.
The nonprofit set up several feeding stations, traps, and cameras in the area, one of which was disrupted by a “very large bear” that frequents the area and needed to be dismantled.
After some sightings of Raven both in person and on camera, Raven eventually ended up in one of Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery’s traps Tuesday night.
Raven was captured on video eating from the feeding station when she was safely captured.
“After everything this poor dog had endured, she cautiously made her way inside for what was probably her first real meal in almost a week. Raven was safe,” a social media post read. “Raven survived. Raven is safe. And after everything this poor girl endured, she can finally rest. Welcome to safety, sweet Raven. You deserved so much better than what happened to you.”
Raven is being held by Rockaway Animal Control. Information on her owner and specifics on her disappearance were not immediately available.
