Icy Roads, Rain, And Fog Prompt Weather Advisories In North Jersey

Dense fog and potentially slippery roads have weather experts warning commuters.

NORTH JERSEY, NJ — Cold temperatures and a high chance of precipitation have prompted weather experts to declare weather advisories in North Jersey.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories in Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties from press time until at least 7 p.m. Tuesday. Western Passaic County is under an advisory until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” forecasters said. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening commute… Slow down and use caution while traveling.”

Forecasters expect freezing rain to drop down before 1 a.m., with more rain to follow until at least 4 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent on Tuesday night, experts added.

Commuters can also expect patchy fog in the affected areas until around midnight, according to the forecasts.

Wednesday morning is expected to be clearer, partly sunny with a high of 51 degrees, but the chance of rain increases again into Wednesday evening.
