Several Roads To Close For Morristown 5K Race: See Details

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Drivers should expect significant traffic delays and road closures in Morristown on Thursday evening as more than 3,000 runners take part in the 21st Annual Morristown Corporate Classic 5K.

According to the Morristown Bureau of Police, officers will assist with the annual race beginning Thursday. While the race starts at 7:30 p.m., road closures and race setup will begin much earlier, with some streets closing around 5 p.m. and traffic impacts expected through approximately 9 p.m.

The Morristown Corporate Classic is New Jersey's premier corporate fitness event, bringing together coworkers, corporate teams and individual runners for a 3.1-mile race through downtown Morristown.

Organizers say the event promotes fitness, teamwork and camaraderie while raising money for JBWS (Jersey Battered Women's Service), which provides services and support for survivors of domestic violence.

Roads Affected

Police said the race route includes:

• Early Street
• Atno Avenue
• Mills Street
• Sussex Avenue
• Walker Avenue
• Ralph Place
• Additional side streets along the course

Eastbound traffic on Washington Street will also be detoured via Scherzer Way in Morris Township and Burnham Parkway during the event.

According to police, motorists traveling north and west of downtown should seek alternate routes Thursday evening due to expected congestion.

Morristown Parking Authority garages

There will be no event parking available at Morristown High School, where the race begins and ends. Packet pickup will be available Wednesday at Headquarters Plaza and Thursday afternoon at Morristown High School before the race.
