Injured Hawk Rescued From Train Tracks In North Jersey
Here's what the Port Authority Police Department has nicknamed their new feathered friend.
NEWARK, NJ — They’ve named it “Harrison.”
Officers with the Port Authority Police Department found themselves conducting a surprise wildlife rescue last week when an injured hawk was found between Harrison and Newark Penn Station along the PATH rail line.
A PATH supervisor called in the situation around 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 23. Two police officers soon arrived at the tracks – then ordered the power cut and called for backup.

When help arrived, including animal control officers, the team managed to secure their feathered passenger and put it in a carrier. The injured bird was then taken to a local shelter for care, authorities said.
Power was restored and trains were running again within the hour.
