NJ Devils Add Iconic Jersey Hotdog To Their Menu For Upcoming Season

NEWARK, NJ — The menu is about to get much more “Jersey” for Devils fans when they attend a hockey game at the Prudential Center.

The New Jersey Devils recently released food and beverage plans for their 2026-2027 season ahead of their home opener in Newark on Oct. 1. Among the additions is Rutt’s Hut: a Garden State icon for 98 years and the home of the legendary “Ripper” deep-fried hot dog.

Eastback Kitchen will be serving up classic Rippers and onion rings – another beloved staple of the Clifton-based eatery – at their brand-new stand by Section 15.

“Rutt’s Hut is extremely excited for this opportunity to bring the real Ripper to the Rock,” said Team Rutt’s Hut.

“We have always wanted to branch out and expand our brand, and this is absolutely the best-case scenario for Rutt’s Hut,” spokespeople said. “The original Ripper and only sports franchise in New Jersey was a perfect match.”

The arrival of Rutt’s Hut at the Prudential Center isn’t the only nod to the Garden State’s local culinary flare.

Foodie-favorite Melba Wilson – who is opening a new restaurant in Newark – will introduce a new “Veggie Soul Roll” outside Section 107, made with greens, peas, rice, cheddar cheese and chili sauce.

The New Jersey Devils will also welcome back Heritage Kitchen, a pop-up food and beverage initiative that supports small and local businesses throughout New Jersey.This month, Heritage Kitchen will showcase the flavors and stories of Pie Oh My, a family-operated New Jersey food business built around handcrafted pizza, Italian comfort food and locally sourced ingredients.

Other food and beverage highlights this season will include:

• Pork Roll/Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheeseburger: Crispy Pork Roll/Taylor Ham, fried egg, American cheese, salt, pepper, and ketchup on a double smash burger (Located at Section 12)
• Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce: Juicy beef and lamb strips on pita bread, with feta cheese, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and served with tzatziki sauce. (Located at Section 1, 118)
• Queso Birria Tacos: Three tacos made with beef short rib, cooked in savory chili-based broth, served on a corn tortilla with melted mozzarella cheese, diced onions, and cilantro, and served with lime and extra broth for dipping. (Located at Section 101 Goya Cantina with other Goya snacks)
• Gluten-Free / Vegan Grilled Cheese: Vegan cheese sandwich on a gluten-free sourdough bread cooked in a plant-based butter alternative. (Located at Section 130 “Everybody’s Kitchen” stand featuring expanded healthy and allergy-friendly offerings)
• State Fair Lemonade: Freshly squeezed lemons, simple syrup, ice, and water. Served in a deli sized cup. (Located at Section 2, 126)

THEME NIGHTS, GIVEAWAYS

The New Jersey Devils have also announced their 2026-27 theme night and giveaway schedule, which includes some familiar favorites – and some new additions.

Giveaways this season will include a Luke Hughes bobblehead, an Arseny Gritsyuk figurine bag tag, and a NJ Devil night light.

According to the team, there will be several special events honoring the diversity of their fan base, with in-game storytelling and arena activations, concourse experiences and live performances planned for each. The lineup includes Newark Celebration (November 18), Pride (January 19), Black History (February 23), and Hispanic Heritage (March 29). Additionally, the Devils will continue to highlight local community and cultural groups throughout the season, including Jewish Community Night and Women in Sports, and there will be three “sensory friendly games” featuring a dedicated sensory room for people with autism.

Other events this season will include:

October 1, 2026 - Home Opener presented by Citizens (vs. Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m. ET) - All fans in attendance will receive a light up bam bam, courtesy of Citizens, as the Devils take on the Philadelphia Flyers for the first home game of the season. Arrive early for the BMW Red Carpet Arrivals beginning at 4:00 PM at Championship Plaza including your Devils players, and stick around for Fan Fest presented by Citizens that will include a number of partner activations, live entertainment and appearances from NJ Devil, Woo Crew and Devils Alumni.

October 22, 2026 – Devils K-Pop Night (vs. Anaheim at 7:00 p.m. ET) – Celebrate K-Pop with the Devils with unique concourse activations, K-Pop themed in-game content and music, special food and beverage and merch offers, and more. K-Pop fans can also enjoy recently announced TAEMIN at Prudential Center on October 23.

November 5, 2026 - Military Appreciation Night presented by Prudential (vs. St. Louis at 7:00 p.m. ET) - The Devils and their fans honor our troops during this Thursday night matchup. The first 9,000 fans in attendance will receive military cap courtesy of Prudential Financial. Additionally, there will be concourse activations, in-game features and more.

November 23, 2026 – Thanksgiving Week Kickoff (vs. Columbus at 7:00 p.m. ET) - Move over gravy boats, we're introducing the Devils Butter Bench! The first 9,000 fans in attendance for this Thanksgiving week showdown against the Columbus Blue Jackets will receive this exclusive item. The Devils will also honor the High School Hockey State Captains with their annual High School Captains ceremony during the first intermission.

December 9, 2026 – Devils Youth Foundation Night (vs. Detroit at 7:30 p.m. ET) – The Devils will amplify the efforts and raise awareness of the impactful work done by the Devils Youth Foundation. Community partners will be highlighted for their local and statewide efforts, and kids from around the state will participate in a number of in-game and concourse performances throughout the night. Fans will be able to support the Devils Youth Foundation through a special auction featuring exclusive player bags with autographed merchandise and one-of-a-kind collectibles.

December 17, 2026 - Devils Down The Shore (vs. Toronto at 7:00 p.m. ET) - Devils Down The Shore returns for a third season as we celebrate Summer in December with Shore-themed activations, contests, and live performances.

January 9, 2027 - Hockey Fights Cancer presented by RWJBarnabas Health (vs. Chicago at 12:00 p.m. ET) - Prudential Center turns lavender when the Devils host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer day presented by RWJBarnabas Health to help raise money to combat cancer. All fans in attendance will receive a Hockey Fights Cancer placard that will be featured during a special moment in-game.

February 20, 2027 – Youth Hockey Day presented by RWJBarnabas Health (vs. Buffalo at 3:00 p.m. ET) – Get ready for Hockey Week Across America as the Devils celebrate the next generation of our fans and youth hockey. The first 9,000 fans in attendance will receive an Arseny Gritsyuk figurine bag tag courtesy of RWJBarnabas Health. This Saturday matinee will feature a number of recognitions and participation from youth hockey organizations across the state, including the acknowledgement of this season's Dr. John J. McMullen Award honoree.

March 5, 2027 - Mascot Madness (vs. Vegas at 7:00 p.m. ET) - Multiple mascots from around the NHL and sports teams in the area join Devils' mascot, NJ Devil, for some Friday night fun. The first 9,000 fans in attendance will receive an NJ Devil night light courtesy of MSG Networks.

April 10, 2027 – Fan Appreciation Night (vs. Pittsburgh at 6:00 p.m. ET)

The Devils will celebrate the fans during the last home game of the season with in-game prizes, activations, and “Jerseys off our Backs” post-game to celebrate the conclusion of the 2026-27 regular season. Arrive early for Fan Fest at Championship Plaza beginning at 3:00 PM. The first 9,000 fans in attendance will receive a Luke Hughes bobblehead commemorating the final game of the season.
