Sunrise Group of Companies Appoints Reverend Bolívar Flores as Chief Operating Officer
Nationally recognized nonprofit executive and public policy strategist to lead Sunrise's expansion in behavioral healthcare.

IRVINGTON, N.J. — Sunrise Group of Companies has appointed Reverend Bolívar Flores as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), selecting an accomplished nonprofit executive, public policy strategist, and nationally recognized community leader to help guide the organization’s next phase of institutional growth.
The appointment places one of New Jersey’s most prominent civic and faith leaders at the executive helm of a healthcare organization expanding its reach in behavioral health, addiction medicine, laboratory services, and community-based care.
Healthcare systems today face a dual challenge: delivering clinical excellence while addressing the social conditions that shape health outcomes. Sunrise’s decision reflects a growing trend across the industry—operational leadership now requires experience that extends beyond traditional healthcare administration to include public policy, nonprofit governance, institutional development, and strategic partnerships.

For more than a decade, Reverend Bolívar Flores has built a distinguished career at the intersection of public service, government administration, community leadership, and nonprofit management. A Harvard graduate, he previously served as Chief of Staff to former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey, where he helped advance initiatives focused on workforce development, reentry services, and collaboration between government and community organizations.
His leadership extends well beyond government. Throughout his ministry, Reverend Flores has provided leadership to more than 470 churches across the State of New Jersey, fostering collaboration among faith leaders, community organizations, and public institutions committed to serving the common good.

On the national stage, Reverend Flores directed Latino voter outreach efforts in support of former Vice President Kamala Harris and currently serves as the National Representative of the National Action Network (NAN), the historic civil rights organization founded by the Reverend Al Sharpton.
He is also the host of the widely recognized public affairs radio program, Open Conversation with Reverend Flores, where elected officials, healthcare executives, educators, clergy, and community leaders discuss public policy, mental health, education, social justice, economic development, and civic leadership.
His public service also includes advisory roles within the administration of Governor Phil Murphy. In addition, Reverend Flores serves on the boards and advisory councils of several universities, hospitals, and nonprofit organizations throughout the United States. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of La Magia de las Bellas Artes, an organization dedicated to advancing arts, culture, and community development.
As Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise Group of Companies, Reverend Flores will oversee corporate operations, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, institutional partnerships, and organizational expansion. Company officials said his appointment reflects a long-term vision to strengthen healthcare delivery while expanding collaboration with government agencies, healthcare systems, academic institutions, and community organizations.
“Healthcare must always begin and end with people,” Reverend Flores said following the announcement. “Operational excellence must be matched by compassion, transparency, and accountability. Institutions earn public trust when they deliver measurable results while preserving the dignity of every individual.”
Industry observers note that an increasing number of healthcare organizations are seeking executives capable of integrating operational leadership with public policy, nonprofit governance, and community engagement. Reverend Flores’ career reflects that convergence of executive management and public service.
For Sunrise Group of Companies, the appointment represents far more than an executive transition. It signals the organization’s commitment to sustainable growth, operational excellence, and lasting community impact.
At a time when the healthcare system demands increasingly comprehensive solutions, the appointment of Reverend Bolívar Flores underscores a broader trend: institutions seeking to transform healthcare are increasingly turning to leaders whose experience extends beyond executive management and is deeply rooted in public service, coalition building, and a lifelong commitment to strengthening the communities they serve.
