That's when he and his younger brother got into a verbal altercation, which they took outside the home. On the sidewalk, the fight turned physical, said New Brunswick Police. Witnesses told police the younger brother went to his car, a grey Nissan Quest, and grabbed a book bag. Witnesses told police he went around to the back of the home and pulled a black object out of the bag.

The witnesses (presumably the men's parents) asked their younger son if the object he was holding was a gun, based on the way he was carrying it. The younger son did not answer; he went inside the home and multiple gunshots were heard coming from inside the home.

Another witness, inside the home, said he saw Ahmad trying to duck out of the way as he was hit with multiple bullets.

Hassan Sannoh then got into his Nissan and fled the scene. Ahmad was found lying on the kitchen floor, unresponsive. He had been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Hassan was later found by police and taken into police custody. He is charged with first-degree murder for his brother's death, as well as possession of a handgun for an illegal purpose. His cell phone was also seized by police to be used as evidence. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Jail. The gun has not been recovered.

At the time of his death, Ahmad Sannoh worked as a Add tagsAdd tagsscientist, according to the GoFundMe. He graduated from Bloomfield College in 2018 with a degree in biology.

"Ahmad was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him," it read. "Ahmad had a way of making everyone feel seen and special. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and then joke about it afterward. His laughter filled every room, and his loyalty to his family was unwavering."

"Throughout his life he attended Arabic school on Sundays and learned how to recite the Quran. He loved playing basketball and showing off his rhyming skills. Most of all he loved his friends and family and could be counted on to show up to all gatherings big and small. Ahmad was a young black scientist, a religious scholar, a ball player, a son, a brother, a friend and more … he was so much more. We will all do our best to make sure he is remembered fondly."
