Construction Begins On Renovation Of Oakwood Park Playground

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Construction has officially begun on the long-awaited renovation of the Oakwood Park playground.

The upgraded playground will feature accessible recreational equipment, including slides, imaginative play areas, spinning attractions, sensory activities, quiet spaces, wheelchair-accessible rides, and improved rubber safety surfacing.

The project also includes new pathways connecting accessible parking to the restroom facilities, shade canopies, picnic tables, fencing, and renovated bathrooms.

Oakwood Park, New Providence's busiest park, serves residents of all ages with its multipurpose turf field, baseball diamonds, playground, and picnic pavilion. Borough officials say the improvements will make the park more welcoming and accessible for the entire community.

The project is supported by $874,000 in grant funding from the State of New Jersey's Jake's Law Playground Grant, the New Jersey Local Recreation Improvement Grant, and the Union County Kids Recreation Trust Fund Grant.
