New Providence Receives New Grant From NJ's Department Of Community Affairs

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — New Providence recently received one of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' first ever Management Enhancement Review Program grant.

DCA awarded $1.5 million in grants to 21 municipal and county governments.

The newly launched program provides funding for local governments to hire consultants to review operations, identify efficiencies, reduce costs, and recommend improvements. The initiative also encourages the exploration of new technologies, organizational changes, and shared services opportunities.

DCA Commissioner Jacquelyn A. Suárez said the program is designed to help local officials deliver essential services more efficiently while achieving long-term cost savings for residents.

In total, New Providence received $75,000 from DCA.

The grants, administered by the DCA's Division of Local Government Services, provide up to $100,000 for municipalities and $150,000 for counties. Recipients were selected based on factors including local matching funds, potential for shared services, opportunities for operational savings, and staff participation in the review process.

State officials said they hope the program will foster innovative approaches to local government operations and improve service delivery across New Jersey.
